Finally

The time has finally come...my website is here.

It has been a long time in the making (in my head) and I finally had some time to sit down and compile all the details that I need in order to share my passion with everyone. Thanks to Weebly for making such an easy to use web design platform.

Cake decorating for me is much like that of an painter or sculptor. It is an expression of my creativity and one that I enjoy sharing with everyone. It provides me a creative outlet and  I can spend hours in the kitchen creating the details. The smallest of details, to me, are some of the most impacting parts of the design. The techniques out there are amazing and I enjoy learning them and getting a chance to implement them in a new design when I have the chance.

It is rare for me to make a cake that is a replica of one I had already made, I believe in being original. Every cake should represent the person(s) that is being celebrated and no one is the same so why should my cakes be the same. Much of what I put into a design is completely free flowing. I have this tenancy to get a little too caught up in a cake and put more into the design than is expected. I probably should cut back on that a little. :)

For many years now my business has been mostly of a generous nature. I enjoy making and giving cakes away. I will continue to give them away but I have decided to start getting "serious" and make it officially a business with a structured pricing model and a way that my clients can provide feeedback.

A wise 17 year old girl wrote this to me at Christmas this past year:
"Dear Mom, Don't give up on your dream. You are incredible and you will succeed in whatever you do! Everyone loves your cakes, don't be afraid to make the prices reasonable. I believe in you so...once you find a location I PROMISE to help you set up and I PROMISE to be your first employee. I  love you and I know you can an will achieve your dream <3."

This is the beginning of the next 23+ years of my business, I have a feeling my first employee will be my daughter Shelby. It is a good thing I do this from home, she won't have a far commute to work. I just hope she finds the passion I have for making cakes and can be my sidekick for many years along the way.

This is for you Shelby. Love Mom

My name is Victoria but I have been called Torie most of my life.
Outside of my passion for making "edible art" I am first a wife and mother but my other passions are endurance sports. I am a 70.3 Ironman finisher. I love the multi-sport especially the bike and I am currently a member of the Desert Tri Girls in Tucson, AZ.

It is quite the balancing act to have a family, full-time job, decorate cakes and train but they all bring me great joy.
